LUCID8 RELEASES UPGRADE TO ENTERPRISE SYSTEM PROTECTOR SUITE
GOexchange and DigiVault, the products that make up the ESP Suite, now make MS Exchange Server Database Optimization, Protection and Recovery more efficient and flexible than ever
BELLEVUE, Wash., October 31, 2006
Lucid8 LLC, the company that optimizes space, reliability, efficiency, and recoverability for Microsoft Exchange Server databases, announced today the availability of upgraded versions of its GOexchange™ and DigiVault™ products, components of the Enterprise System Protector Suite™. Available beginning today, GOexchange 3.2 and DigiVault 1.5 now optimize MS Exchange systems and protect data better, faster—and more easily—than ever. The products will be demonstrated in booth 313 at Microsoft Exchange Connections 2006, Nov. 6-9 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
GOexchange 3.2 and DigiVault 1.5 have been upgraded to communicate and coordinate backup and maintenance tasks better than ever—with each other, and with leading third-party backup software. GOexchange 3.2 now facilitates incremental data sweeps with DigiVault 1.5 prior to the performance of maintenance tasks. Lucid8 has always recommended running a full backup prior to executing maintenance tasks to guard against inadvertent data loss should a power outage or hardware failure occur during maintenance. Now, GOexchange coordinates with DigiVault, Lucid8’s Continuous Data Protection and recovery solution for Microsoft Exchange to run an incremental data protection job before maintenance starts, to quickly and easily sweep up any remaining data before the start of a GOexchange maintenance run. With this key new feature, the time for maintenance process operation is drastically reduced, because back-ups are made accurate and up-to-the minute in a fraction of the time required by third-party products.
Other new features make GOexchange more efficient for users and administrators alike. With version 3.2, GOexchange clients now have a faster means of connecting to Exchange servers. Rather than scanning the network to locate Exchange servers, as in prior versions, users can simply enter the server and domain name to quickly connect to the desired Exchange server. Advanced error logging makes installation smoother, and new notification tools let administrators automate the process of user notification so that users in the affected mail store know in advance when maintenance will occur. New sort features provide administrators with the ability to sort Jobs, Schedules and Job Histories by date, job name and/or other relevant data. And, GOexchange’s library of integrated third-party backup software products has expanded, so it now includes more than half a dozen of the most popular backup products in use today: products by Symantec/Veritas, Computer Associates, CommVault, and Ultrabac, as well as Microsoft’s NTBackup, are now supported.
DigiVault 1.5 now has tape backup integration with the same backup solutions supported by GOexchange, so administrators can automatically protect the contents of a DigiStore repository that exceeds the DigiStore retention policy by archiving that data to tape before it is pruned from the repository. This new feature helps administrators bridge the gap between practical and required retention policies. For example, retaining 30 days of data for protection within the DigiStore repository is usually more than sufficient to meet the needs of most organizations, however, a corporate policy might require 90-day backup retention. In such a case, keeping all of that data on disk is not likely to be practical, as it would require an inordinate amount of disk space. With DigiVault 1.5, administrators can automatically archive that portion of the DigiStore repository data that exceeds the practical limits, while still being in compliance with corporate policies. And, the data written to tape retains the security and efficiency benefits that DigiVault brings, with its encryption and compression: data fits onto fewer tapes, and, if the tapes should ever be lost or fall into the wrong hands, the data within is secured with 256bit encryption. Should the archived repository data be required, it can be quickly restored to a special DigiStore import directory for immediate use.
Database health has always been the weakest link in most Exchange environments. Left unchecked, Exchange database growth, errors and degradation impair system performance and stability, as well the ability to maintain effective backup and recovery operations. Lucid8's Enterprise System Protector Suite, featuring GOexchange and DigiVault, adds disaster prevention and optimization, as well as continuous data protection with SingleTouch recovery to create a truly complete and efficient Microsoft Exchange maintenance and protection solution. Certified for compatibility with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard and Enterprise Editions, the Enterprise System Protector Suite helps administrators manage and protect the complex database systems of Microsoft Exchange Server.
The #1 best-selling automated disaster prevention and optimization solution for Microsoft Exchange, Lucid8’s GOexchange works to remove hidden, silently accumulating database errors; increasing disk space, and rebuilding indexes while optimizing the Exchange database. GOexchange, on average, reduces Microsoft Exchange storage requirements by 30 to 55 percent, and, when combined with a third-party e-mail archiving solutions, the storage savings can reach over 90 percent. Archiving is an important element of proper Exchange information management, but Lucid8’s technology provides Archiving vendors and their customers the ability to achieve the promised and desired goal of smaller, more efficient and optimized databases—automatically. Lucid8's DigiVault provides continuous data protection for true fail-safe data access. In conjunction with a good archive solution, Lucid8’s Enterprise System Protector Suite featuring GOexchange and DigiVault creates comprehensive and efficient e-mail usage, archiving, maintenance, data protection and recovery capabilities.
“We’re pleased to bring these new features to our Enterprise System Protector Suite, GOexchange and DigiVault users, because we know that they will increase efficiency and effectiveness in maintaining, managing and protecting Microsoft Exchange systems, and the invaluable data they contain” said Troy Werelius, CEO of Lucid8. “We continue to work with our customers and third-party e-mail archive as well as tape backup software vendors to make the Lucid8 Enterprise System Protector’s GOexchange and DigiVault components an integrated part of comprehensive email management systems to keep e-mails safe, secure and accessible at all times for the intelligent archiving, reporting and analysis that drives competitive edge in today’s market.”
