DigiVault takes the place of your current Exchange backup solution. Having multiple backup solutions backing up the Exchange databases will cause serious conflicts during the backup and restore processes, therefore before enabling DigiVault in your organization, disable the existing solutions Exchange backup jobs.
You can use your current backup solution to Archive the DigiStore repository data to tape for off-site storage redundancy and to protect data for longer retention periods than those set in Enterprise- and Group-Based Policies.
Retaining 30 days of data for protection in the DigiStore repository is usually more than sufficient to meet the needs of most organizations; however, a corporate policy might require 90 days or more of backup retention. In such cases, keeping that amount of data on disk is not likely to be practical because of the large amount of disk space required.
With DigiVault, administrators can automatically archive the portion of DigiStore repository data that exceeds practical limits while still being in compliance with corporate policies.
